Music Monday - Silver Lining (Rilo Kiley, One Tree Hill OST)

Published by phatelara under Bands, Music, Music Monday Edit This

Happy Music Monday! This is Silver Lining by Rilo Kiley, an indie rock band based in Los Angeles. The band’s songs have been featured in numerous tv shows, including The O.C., Nip/Tuck, One Tree Hill, Weeds and Grey’s Anatomy.

This song was featured on One Tree Hill Season 6, I believe, in one of Brooke Davis’s (played by Sophia Bush) scenes. Just wanted to cheer myself up with a simple, sun-shiny tune today.

Have a great week ahead!

Celeb Stuff - Classic Christmas Movie DVDs

Published by phatelara under Celeb Stuff, Movies Edit This

I’ve some classic Christmas movies (in no particular order), available on DVD. These movies would make excellent Christmas gifts, and they’re also fun to watch with the kids during the holidays. Have fun!

Christmas Classics Box Set
This collection of holiday fun includes A CHRISTMAS CAROL, HOME ALONE, MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET, and JINGLE ALL THE WAY.

Christmas Carol: The Movie
Charles Dickens’ classic holiday tale comes to sparkling life once again with this glorious animated version. Featuring the voices of Simon Callow, Kate Winslet, and Nicolas Cage, CHRISTMAS CAROL: THE MOVIE tells the unforgettable story of the meager Bob Cratchit and his cranky boss, Ebenezer Scrooge, who learns to become passionate and caring after he’s visited on Christmas Eve by the ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future.

Classic Holiday Collection: Boys Town/A Christmas Carol/Christmas in Connecticut [3 Discs]
Three seasonal movies are collected on this release from Warner Bros. BOYS TOWN: This movie tells the story of Father Flanagan, who battled the courts, the community, and the odds to create a home for boys that society had tossed away. Eleanore Griffin and Dore Schary won Oscars for Best Original Story. A CHRISTMAS CAROL: Though not quite on a par with the same-titled film starring Alistair Sim, this version of A CHRISTMAS CAROL is still a moving version of the classic story. A wealthy miser learns how wonderful and fulfilling life can be with a little generosity at Christmas time from three specters who visit him the night before Christmas.CHRISTMAS IN CONNECTICUT: A sharp writer who has never set foot in a kitchen passes herself off as the consummate housewife in the column she writes for a women’s magazine. When a promotional stunt plants her editor and a Navy war veteran at her fictitious home for Christmas dinner, she has to marry her boyfriend, find a house, and prepare a spectacular meal, pronto. Life grows even more complicated when she starts to fall for the sailor.

Music Monday - Champagne Supernova, Live at Wembley 2008 (Oasis)

Published by phatelara under Bands, Music, Music Monday Edit This

I’m feeling rather nostalgic today, so I’ve decided to feature a band that was huge when I was in high school. This song is called Champagne Supernova by Oasis, which lyrics is described by Noel Gallagher as “as psychedelic as I’ll ever get.”

oasis-whats-the-story-morning-glory.jpgI just love it for so many reasons. The lyrics, the tune, the memories it brings, and the fact that the current music industry is not as good as it used to be. What’s The Story (Morning Glory?) was an awesome album!

Champagne Supernova has been covered either released or unreleased by numerous bands, such as Ben Folds Five, Hootie & the Blowfish, and Snow Patrol. It was also covered by an American band called Matt Bond PA, which was also used in season 2 of The O.C.

This song runs 7 minutes, don’t say I didn’t warn you. Enjoy the live version. Have a good listen!
