Gamer is a science fiction action thriller movie, starring Gerard Butler, Logan Lerman, Milo Ventimiglia, Aaron Yoo, Ludacris, Amber Valletta and Alison Lohman.

Set in the near-future, mind-control technology has taken society by storm and a multiplayer on-line game called “Slayers” allows gamers to control human death row prisoners in mass-scale deathmatches, if an inmate lives through 30 matches then he wins his freedom. Simon (Lerman) controls Kable (Butler) the on-line champion of the game having won 27 matches and lived through them all, with his every move tracked by millions, his ultimate challenge becomes regaining his identity and independence by defeating the game’s mastermind (Hall) through launching an attack on the system that has imprisoned him. Gamer was previously named Game, then changed to Citizen Game. Directed by Mark Neveldine and Bryan Taylor, (Crank, Pathology) Gamer is scheduled to be released on 4 September 2009.

The 39-year old Scottish former lawyer has been acting since 1997, acting in numerous movies such as Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), Attila (2001), Shooters (2002), Reigh of Fire (2002), The Phantom of The Opera (2004), Beowilf & Grendel (2005) and RocknRolla (2008).

Gerard or fondly known as Gerry, was a heavy smoker, but he quit smoking when he was filming P.S. I Love You, as he had to play the role as a man who died of cancer and he thought it was a sign.
