Music Monday - The Underdog (Spoon, 17 Again OST)

Spoon is an American indie rock band from Austin, Texas. The band is composed of Britt Daniel (vocals, guitar); Jim Eno (drums); Rob Pope (bass) and Eric Harvey (keyboard, guitar, percussion, backing vocals).

The band was formed in late 1993 by lead singer/guitarist Britt Daniel and drummer Jim Eno. The name Spoon was chosen to honor the 1970s German avant-garde band Can whose hit song “Spoon” was the theme song to the movie Das Messer. Eno describes Spoon’s music as “rock ‘n’ roll.

Spoon has recorded 7 albums and 6 EPs. They have appeared on various live talk shows such as The Late Show With David Letterman and Last Call With Carson Daly.

It was featured in the film Cloverfield, and included in the movie’s soundtrack, Rob’s Party Mix. It was also featured in Episode 10 of the fourth season of Numb3rs, an episode of How I Met Your Mother, as well as the movies 17 Again (starring Zac Efron, Matthew Perry, Leslie Mann, Michelle Trachtenberg) and I Love You, Man. However, “The Underdog” is not included in the official soundtrack album of 17 Again. [Source]

Here’s a live performance of “The Underdog” on The Late Show With David Letterman. Enjoy!

Fashion Friday #10 - Keira Knightley’s Emerald Green Dress in Atonement (2007)

keira-knightley-hot.jpgIt’s been a while since I last featured a celeb for my Fashion Friday segment. This time, I’m back with a feature on Keira Knightley, specifically on her emerald green dress worn in the film, Atonement, opposite James McAvoy.keira-knightley-green-dress-atonement.jpg

The gorgeous dress was designed by Jacqueline Durran. She has also designed costumes for Vera Drake (2004) and Pride & Prejudice (2005).

Floor length evening gown in emerald green silk. Flowing bias cut bodice with bow detail perforated in the neckline. Loose through the bust, spaghetti straps over the shoulder. Wide waistband wrap, gathered at the rear; knotted at the front and left to hang. Straight cut circle skirt with high front slit and rear train. [Source]

I’ll be featuring sets created on Polyvore for Fashion Friday starting today onwards, and here’s the one I picked off the many sets made on Keira Knightley. Thank you to Alisa & Marti for allowing me to use their set for this post.

Who is Ellen Page?

Published by phatelara under Actresses, Movies Edit This

ellen-page.jpgEllen Page aka Ellen Philpotts-Page is a Canadian actress born on 21 February 1987. She’s probably best known as Juno in the indie movie of the same name, opposite Michael Cera.

Ellen Page has also acted in several movies, where she played the main role, such as Hard Candy and Smart People. She was also in X-Men: The Last Stand as Katherine “Kitty” Pryde.

Ellen Page will be seen in a few movies this year, such as Drew Barrymore’s directorial debut, Whip It!, opposite Julliette Lewis, Marcia Gay Harden, Kristen Wiig, and Drew Barrymore herself, and Michael Lander’s Peacock (2009), opposite Cillian Murphy, Susan Sarandon, Bill Pullman and Josh Lucas.ellen-page-2.jpg

This is one of the boldest screenplays I’ve come across in my albeit short career; it’s a character and story I can throw myself into and exactly the type of movie I love to be a part of.
-On her character, Maggie in Peacock

Ellen Page will also be seen with Cillian Murphy in Christopher Nolan’s Inception (2010),  alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ken Watanabe, and Michael Caine. It will be released on 16 July 2010. Check out the teaser trailer for Inception here.

Ellen Page is also said to play the role of Jane Eyre, for the movie of the same name. Jane Eyre is an adaptation of Jane Eyre’s autobiographical novel by English writer, Charlotte Bronte aka Currer Bell.
