Music Monday - The Underdog (Spoon, 17 Again OST)
Spoon is an American indie rock band from Austin, Texas. The band is composed of Britt Daniel (vocals, guitar); Jim Eno (drums); Rob Pope (bass) and Eric Harvey (keyboard, guitar, percussion, backing vocals).

The band was formed in late 1993 by lead singer/guitarist Britt Daniel and drummer Jim Eno. The name Spoon was chosen to honor the 1970s German avant-garde band Can whose hit song “Spoon” was the theme song to the movie Das Messer. Eno describes Spoon’s music as “rock ‘n’ roll.
Spoon has recorded 7 albums and 6 EPs. They have appeared on various live talk shows such as The Late Show With David Letterman and Last Call With Carson Daly.
The song I chose is called “The Underdog”, taken from Spoon’s album called “Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga”. It was featured in the film Cloverfield, and included in the movie’s soundtrack, Rob’s Party Mix. It was also featured in Episode 10 of the fourth season of Numb3rs, an episode of How I Met Your Mother, as well as the movies 17 Again (starring Zac Efron, Matthew Perry, Leslie Mann, Michelle Trachtenberg) and I Love You, Man. However, “The Underdog” is not included in the official soundtrack album of 17 Again. [Source]
Here’s a live performance of “The Underdog” on The Late Show With David Letterman. Enjoy!
